Why I Work with Turquoise—And What It Means to Me
Share
Turquoise has always held a special place in my heart. It’s not just a beautiful stone—it’s a thread that ties me to my family, to the earth, and to the stories I try to tell through my work.
Growing up, I was surrounded by artists. My dad and grandpa were both incredibly talented, and some of my earliest memories are of watching them create—hands covered in dust and metal shavings, stones laid out like treasures. Turquoise was always there. It felt like home. Now, as I carry on that legacy, it’s one of the stones I return to again and again.
More Than a Pretty Stone
The meaning of turquoise jewelry runs deep across cultures. It’s long been seen as a stone of protection, healing, and connection to the spiritual world. To me, it also represents freedom—wide open skies, desert roads, salty air, and living with your heart wide open.
When I set a piece of turquoise in silver, I’m not just making a ring or a cuff. I’m honoring that rich symbolism and creating a kind of modern talisman—something you can wear and feel grounded, bold, and fully yourself.
The Wild Beauty of Each Stone
One of the things I love most about turquoise is that no two stones are ever the same. Whether it’s the dreamy pale blue of Golden Hills, the deep, moody matrix of Bisbee, or the stark contrast of White Buffalo (technically not turquoise, but still part of the same spirit)—each piece has its own personality.
I let the stone lead the design. Some call that intuitive, but honestly? It’s just how I work. Each handmade turquoise ring or pendant unfolds naturally on my bench, telling me what it wants to become. I just listen.
Jewelry That Feels Like You
My dream is for you to find a piece that feels like it was made just for you. Maybe it reminds you of a place you love, a part of yourself you’re reconnecting with, or the path you’re on right now. That’s what turquoise symbolism is all about to me—connection, intuition, and a quiet kind of strength.
