Tidal | Abalone Shell Teardrop Asymmetrical Earrings

$199.00

One-of-a-kind piece. Once it's gone, it won't be recreated.

Handcrafted in silver. Made to be worn and lived in.

The shift happens when the light does.

One moment the stone is blue. Then green. Then a flash of violet at the edge. Abalone does not hold one color. It holds all of them, depending on where you are standing and how you are moving.

Each earring is slightly different, intentionally asymmetrical, because no two pieces of abalone are ever the same. A teardrop cabochon sits in a serrated bezel setting, hand-fabricated in high-polish sterling silver. Three silver granules cluster at the base, a quiet detail that grounds the piece without competing with the stone.

The earwires are long, open-hook sterling silver. They move when you move.

Lightweight. Iridescent. Designed to be lived in.

One pair. One of a kind.

Abalone has been worn for thousands of years by coastal communities across the Pacific, from the Indigenous peoples of North America to the Maori of New Zealand. It was used as ceremonial adornment, trade currency, and spiritual protection. The shell was considered a vessel for the ocean's spirit.

The iridescence comes from the shell's layered structure, thin plates of nacre stacked so precisely that light bends and separates as it passes through. Every angle reveals something different.

It carries the energy of the ocean. Fluid. Deep. Ever-shifting.

Sterling silver develops a natural patina with wear. This is character, not damage. To clean, use a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfume, and chemicals. Handle abalone gently; natural shell is best kept away from harsh cleaners.

Tidal. Because that is what abalone does. It shifts with the light the way water shifts with the tide, never the same color twice, never still. These earrings were made for the woman who has learned to move with her own current instead of against it. Each stone is slightly different, asymmetrical by nature and by choice. The serrated bezel holds the shell without crowding it. The polished silver catches the same light the abalone does.

Materials

Each Sun Salt Silver piece is handcrafted using sterling and fine silver with natural stones chosen for their character, color, and story.

I work primarily with turquoise, opal, gemstones, shark tooth fossils, and other stones that feel grounded and alive. No two stones are identical — natural variations are part of the beauty.

All jewelry is made by hand in my studio using traditional silversmithing techniques. The result is work that feels substantial, personal, and meant to be worn for years.

Care & Longevity

Sun Salt Silver jewelry is made to be worn and lived in. With a little care, your piece will keep its beauty for years.

Because many designs feature natural stones like turquoise, opal, shell, or fossilized materials, treat your jewelry gently.

A few simple guidelines:

• Remove before swimming, showering, or working with your hands
• Avoid lotions, perfumes, and cleaning products
• Store pieces separately to prevent scratching
• Gently polish silver with a soft cloth when needed

Natural stones can be sensitive to water and chemicals. Keeping your jewelry dry and stored safely will help preserve its color and finish.
